Scheduled reports run on their own. You can also run any recent period by hand. ## Before you begin The report needs a published version. Until it has one, the button reads **Run… (publish v1 first)**. See [Creating and designing a report](/documentation/docs/creating-and-designing-a-report). ## Run a report for a period 1. Open the report from **Analyse** > **Reports**. 2. Click **Run…**. 3. Choose the **Period**. The newest period is first, and periods that have not started yet are not offered. A period that has already run is marked **already run**: running it again makes a new take, and the current one stays in the history. 4. Click **Run**. The new take appears in the timeline as **Running**, and the page shows **Still working…** until it finishes. If the period is already running, XpertOS opens the running take instead of starting a second one. ## Read the report page The **Timeline** on the left of the page lists each edition by period, with its takes newest first, and each published version with its change note. Click a take to open it on the right. The take shows its version and status, for example **v2 · Delivered**. A number beside a take shows how much feedback is waiting on it. To see older history, click **Load older**. The timeline labels each period by its week number, for example **2026-W27**, while the take itself shows the dates, for example *w/c 29 Jun 2026*. At the top of the page, **Run…** runs a period, **Copy** starts a new report from this one, and **Design** opens the design workspace. Under the timeline, **Data** shows the Xtremepush instance the report reads from (**Data source**; click it to change it), and **Delivery** holds the delivery settings. | Status | Meaning | | --- | --- | | **Running** | The Xpert is writing the take. | | **Ready for review** | The take is written and is waiting for someone to read it and click **Send**. | | **Delivered** | The take has been sent to at least one recipient. | | **Published** | The take is written and available in the app. A report with no recipients publishes each take. | | **Failed** | The take could not be written. The take shows the reason. | | **Replaced** | A newer take of the same period replaced it. | A take written by an earlier version says so, for example **Written by v1; the report is now on v2**. When a take is ready for review, or a take fails, the report's owner gets an Inbox item and an email. Charts and tables on the page are interactive: hover over a chart to see its values, and sort or search a table where the page offers it. Scheduled runs and runs from a flow use only your account's data, such as Intelligence and synced campaigns. They cannot use anyone's personal connections, such as the owner's Google Drive. ## Check where a figure came from 1. Click **Data sources** above the take, or click a figure on the page. 2. Check the pane's header for the take, its period, the time zone and when it was generated, then each dataset's source, comparison and when it was refreshed. Expand a dataset to see the **SQL as it ran**, the values **Bound for this period** and its **First rows**. 3. Click **Download CSV** to download that dataset's stored rows, or **Ask about this** to open the Assistant on the figure. Everything in **Data sources** comes from the data stored with the take, and nothing runs again to show it. **Ask about this** opens a new Assistant conversation about the figure. The Assistant knows the report and its data, so you can carry on with follow-up questions, for example asking for a trend over time. ## Ask for a change You can give feedback on a finished take, and the report's Xpert will propose an edit for you to accept. Xperts can also suggest changes while they write a take; these appear in the same list. 1. Open the take. 2. In **Feedback**, describe what should change, for example *Split the opens chart by channel*, and click **Add feedback** or press **Enter**. 3. Wait for the Xpert's proposal. It explains the change and lists what it does, for example that it adds a dataset. 4. Click **Preview** to see the take **Without the change** and **With the change** side by side. 5. Choose what to do: | Option | What happens | | --- | --- | | **Just this edition** | Runs this period again with the change. Other editions and future runs are not affected. | | **Going forward** | Publishes the change as the next version. Future editions use it, and this edition keeps what it said. To rewrite this edition with the new version too, click **Re-run this period**. | | **Dismiss** | Closes the feedback without a change. | If the report has moved on to a newer version since the proposal was made, the proposal says *Proposed against an older version of this report* and you cannot apply it: dismiss it and ask again. **Going forward** is also unavailable while a draft is open in the design workspace. ## Troubleshoot a failed take | The take says | What to do | | --- | --- | | No data: … | Every dataset failed. Open **Data sources** to see why, or open the design workspace to fix the queries. | | The run stopped before it finished, or The server restarted while this ran | Click **Retry**. | | This report needs redesigning | The report was made before the current design format. Click **Open Design** and ask the Xpert to rebuild it. |
