Configure a rolling segment to automatically sync user updates to an external system.
You can automate the sync of your rolling segment data with your external system by configuring a rolling segment Destination. Every time a rolling segment updates on its hourly schedule, a list of users who have been added or removed is sent to your system using a webhook.
The data payload for this event will always include each user's user_id. If the customer_id is enabled on the project, then customer_id will also be included in the payload. User IDs in the payload are grouped by add or remove actions.
Prerequisites
To use this feature, you must first configure a Webhook Stream integration. This contains the destination URL and authentication details for your external system. For configuration details, see [Webhook Streams](https://docs.xtremepush.com/docs/webhook-stream).
Configure external sync of Rolling Segments
To activate the external sync of your rolling segment, you must configure a destination in your rolling segment configuration:
Go to Data > Audiences > Rolling Segments
Select your rolling segment or create a new one.
Click Add Destinations and provide the following details:
Webhook Stream Integration: From the drop-down, select the Webhook Stream associated with your destination URL.
External Segment ID: Specify an ID that maps the rolling segment to a corresponding segment in your external system.
Save your changes.
Once saved, the sync becomes active. Updates are sent to your configured destination starting with the next hourly cycle.
Rolling Segment Calculation Time Limit
A segment calculation times out if it runs longer than five minutes. When this happens, the sync for that specific hourly cycle fails and an error message is generated. The segment stops syncing and must be manually re-enabled by clicking Enable Sync.
