RCS Messaging

Enable RCS messages in your single-stage SMS campaigns

You can enable Rich Communication Services (RCS) in your single-stage SMS campaigns. With RCS messages in Xtremepush, you can:

  • Send end-to-end encrypted messages.
  • Display your verified sender ID to your users.
  • Monitor message delivery receipts.

RCS Availability

The availability of the RCS channel for your project depends on the following:

  • Location: Availability is limited to select countries.
  • Carrier Compatibility: Your users mobile carriers must support RCS.

To check if your project is eligible and to request that the RCS channel be enabled, reach out to your Account Manager.

Usage and Limitations

  • Text-only Support: The Xtremepush platform currently supports text-only RCS messages.
  • Device Compatibility: Your users must have a compatible device to receive RCS messages:
    • Android 5.0 or higher
    • iOS 18.2 or higher
  • SMS Subscription Required: Only users who are subscribed to SMS messages can receive RCS messages. If they unsubscribe from SMS messages, they won't receive RCS messages.

Send RCS Messages

After RCS messaging is enabled on your project, go to the Content tab of your single-stage SMS campaign. Here, turn on the Send as RCS toggle. When you turn on this toggle, the core SMS functionality remains the same, but your users can see your verified company name and logo when they receive your message.

If your campaign message has multiple variants or languages, turning on the toggle will enable RCS messages for each variant or language.

RCS messages are supported on both Android and iOS devices. If an RCS message cannot be delivered within one hour, a standard SMS is sent as a fallback to ensure your message still reaches its intended recipient.

Delivery Receipts

View RCS Message Details

After you send an RCS message, you can review its status and the message details from several sections within the Xtremepush platform:

  • Go to Campaigns > Existing Campaigns > select your campaign>Analytics
  • Go to Analytics > Campaigns > Comparison and search for your campaign
  • Go to Campaigns > Notifications Log and filter for your campaign. The Message Type for RCS campaigns is displayed as SMS. To see the specific RCS message details, open the campaign details.
  • Your project dashboard also provides an overview of RCS message details. If you uncheck the SMS checkbox from the Channels drop-down, the RCS message details will also not be shown.

Supported Message Statuses

The following message statuses are supported for RCS messages:
