Synced Rows
Create, edit, and manage synced rows
Rows are the building blocks of emails in the email builder that define the horizontal composition of your email. Each row contains one or more content blocks such as text, images, or buttons. For more information on rows and how to use them in email builder, see Email Builder.
You can save any row as a Synced Row, makes it reusable across single and multi-stage campaigns and message templates within the same project. This is useful for content that needs to stay consistent everywhere it appears, such as a promotional banner, a footer disclaimer, or a brand signature block.
When you edit a synced row, the update is automatically applied to every campaign containing the synced row, so you never have to make the same change in multiple places.
Things to Note Before you Create Synced Rows
- Synced rows are different from saved rows. A saved row cannot be edited once saved, whereas a synced row can be updated at any time and any changes are applied across all campaigns and templates containing the synced row.
- Synced rows are project-specific and cannot be shared across projects. If you copy a campaign containing a synced row to a different project, any synced rows it contains will become regular rows in the new project.
Create Synced Rows
Synced rows are created directly inside the email builder.
-
Open an email campaign and go to the email builder.
-
In the right-hand panel, drag any row from Rows tab into the email builder.
-
Drag any content blocks into the row to build the content for your synced row.
-
Once your content is ready, click the row and select Save icon as shown below:

- In the Save row dialog, enter a name for the row.
- Check the box: Mark as synced row (updates will propagate to all templates).
-
Click Save.
The row is now saved as a synced row and is available to use in other campaigns within the same project. To add it, go to the Rows tab in the email builder, select the Synced dropdown, and choose your configured synced row.
Edit Synced Rows
To edit a synced row in the email builder, select the synced row and click the Edit Synced Row icon.
You have two options for editing the row:
- Edit and Unsync: Detaches the row and converts it to a regular row. Any changes you make only apply to the current campaign, message, campaign template, or message template you're using. This unsynced row no longer appears under Content > Email Rows > Synced Rows, though the original synced row remains unaffected.
- Edit All: Opens the synced row for editing and any changes you make are reflected across all campaigns, messages and templates using this synced row.
Unable to launch campaignSynced row changes may take some time to apply. If you attempt to launch a campaign before the changes have finished applying, you will see the following message: Unable to launch the campaign as the latest changes are still being applied to the synced rows. Please try again shortly.
Synced row changed while editing campaignIf you are editing a campaign that contains a synced row and another user updates that synced row at the same time, you will see the following message when you attempt to launch: The synced rows have been updated while you were editing this campaign. Save the campaign to view the latest changes.
Save your campaign and refresh the page to see the updated synced row, then launch as normal.
Manage Synced Rows
To manage your synced rows, go to Content > Email Rows > Synced Rows. Clicking View details on a synced row opens a details page that gives you a full snapshot of that synced row, including:
- Who created it and who last updated it
- How many campaigns, messages, and templates it is used in
- A preview of the current sync row content
From this page you can click Edit next to any linked campaign or template to go directly to that message's email builder.
The details page also shows the following for each linked campaign or template:
- Last synced: The date and time the synced row was last updated.
- Sync Status: Either In sync or Stale. A status of Stale is a temporary state that occurs when a new version of the synced row has been saved but the changes have not yet been synced
- Version: Indicates how many times the synced row has been edited. Currently, there is no way to view or restore the content from an earlier version.- want to confirm if this is correct.
Deleting Synced RowsTo delete a synced row, click Delete row from either the Synced Rows list or the details page. A synced row can only be deleted if it is not currently used in any campaign or template. If it is in use, the Delete option will be disabled.
