The Preview tab allows users to preview their email campaigns to ensure the best results are obtained across platforms and to ensure that dynamic content displays correctly.

This tab is only available for email campaigns.

Render content

After the user selects the email channel on the Setup tab or on the Journey Builder, a new tab called Preview will appear to the right of the Segment tab on the Create Campaign page.

Once the user navigates to the Preview tab, the following options are displayed in the left navigation panel:

• Variants: Displays the variant testing options set on the Setup tab (if applicable)
• Messages: Allows the user to select the email message set in the Journey Builder to render the content (available only for multi-stage campaigns)
• Campaign Languages: Displays the multi-language options set on the Setup tab (if applicable)
• User Profile / Render Message For: Allows the user to select a user profile to render the content against.
• Custom Data: Allows the user to provide custom input to render the content against. This field is very helpful as the system highlights dynamic syntax errors, if there are fallback values provided, etc.

Users can search for a profile to render using their email address or user ID.

By default, if a seed list exists in the project (Settings > Seed list), the first profile from the seed list is selected to render the content, so the user doesn’t see an unrendered version at the beginning. If there are no users in the seed list, the system will pick the first user profile from the targeted users.

If a seed list exists in the project, this feature will not factor in if it's enabled or disabled from the campaign segmentation and will render the first profile from it.

Preview panel

In the preview panel on the right of the tab, the user will see:

• Desktop/Mobile Device Picker: Allows the user to select the device type for rendering the content.
• Highlight the dynamic values: A toggle that enables or disables the highlighting of dynamic values, which helps identify dynamic contentand potential errors.

Roles & Permissions

All roles with access to create a campaign are able to see this tab. However, if a role is not permitted to view user profile data, that role can still use the custom data section but will not be able to render content for a user profile.

Send yourself a preview

The Send yourself a preview button is located on the left bottom of the page. This feature allows users to send a test email to specified recipients, helping to ensure the email content appears as expected before sending it out to a larger audience.
